Anita Bennett, a 14-year-old freshman from Ohio Connections Academy, has received her third college degree before completing high school according to News5 Cleveland report. She received her associate degree in science from Cuyahoga Community College through the College Credit Plus program, which allows students to take high school and college credit courses.
Anita has already earned an associate of arts and associate technical studies in child care, administration, and management. Her sisters have also taken college courses at young ages, with Angel starting when she was 13 and Amber beginning at 11. Anita plans to take over her mother’s five-star licensed home childcare service and hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree before finishing high school.
“When you don’t know about college, that kind of stuff, it can seem really, really hard, and it could seem impossible at times. But just knowing that if you put your mind to it, you can do it and that the sky’s the limit and you create your own boundaries,” Bennett said. Her educational accomplishments run in the family, and she aims to take over her mother’s business, a five-star licensed home childcare service, when she becomes older.
According to News5 Cleveland, Bennett’s educational accomplishments received a special recognition from Tri-C President Dr. Michael A. Baston. During an interview, Bennett said, “I should have four degrees by the time I’m done with high school because I’m going to start working on my bachelor’s degree starting in August of this year. So by the time I’m done with high school, I should have that as well.” With her mother’s success serving as her inspiration, Bennett is passionate about creating a successful future in the childcare industry.
Bennett’s ability to receive her three college degrees before completing high school is an impressive feat, especially given her age. Her dedication and drive towards education have allowed her to achieve her goals, and she is not stopping anytime soon. As Bennett said, “when you put your mind to it, you can do it, and the sky’s the limit.”
