Meet the female identical Twin Medical Doctors, Brittani and Brandi Jackson. The oldest twin Brittani is a family physician, and Brandi is a psychiatrist.
Both are graduates of Cornell University and completed their residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where both held the title of chief resident.
It is phenomenon to find twin sisters in such similar profession who are determined to succeed, particularly from a working-class family, who had no one to lead them on, therefore, had to set their own path.
During their interview with Chicago Tribune, they stated “Cheering each other on when they felt isolated or faced sexism and racism during their years-long education” has helped them through their career journey.
Their experiences have also given them the opportunity to be an advocate for Black patients who expressed concern about not getting the same level of respect from physicians as their counterparts from other races.
“There’s a large number of us trying to make that number larger. If you’re trying to diversify medicine, you can’t just reach the students who knew about the field,” said Brittani. “You need to reach the students that weren’t considering medicine in the first place. We’re trying to show the students that there are people out there like them and that they can achieve.”
