The African continent is full of diverse and unique talents. The Myriads of talents are currently coming into the limelight. Like a free soaring eagle in the sky, the African soil has avail itself while its teens fly up and spread their wings for world-changing innovations that will positively impact our world. One of such talents is the Fifteen-year-old Cheikh Bamba Diaby, a self-taught robotic engineer.
The Senegalese teen developed a strong passion for robotics from trying to fix his sister’s locked phone. The frustration in his inability to pay anyone that would repair the gadget pushed him to self-learn how to fix it himself with the information available on the internet and that moment ignited his passion for robotics.
It is said that Diaby’s passion for robotics engineering started when he mistakenly locked his sister’s phone. He said that in trying to resolve the issue without anyone knowing, he took the phone to an engineer who demanded a sum.
In December 2019, the teenage robotics star told BBC in an interview that he never gave up on electronic devices because of his curiosity. “My father asked my mother to hide all the electronic devices because I was a stubborn and very curious child,” he said.
Diaby said his parents are now very supportive of him pursuing his dream, though they had some concerns at the beginning. Amazingly some of the technological creations of the African Giant also include an independent motor car, motion sensor and a card lock for doors.
