Nigerian singer Tems who rose to prominence after featuring on Wizkid’s single, “Essence” also features on the soundtrack of the 2022 Black Panther sequel “Wakanda Forever”. According to report, following previous criticism for the lack of features of African artists in a movie that empowers Black people may have led to Tems being included in the “Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.

Marvel revealed in the trailer for the upcoming movie which shows Tems voice remix to Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry’. This bears a cultural significance for Africans and Blacks all around the world. As a Nigerian singer, Tems is an important voice in the African diaspora. Her inclusion on the Wakanda Forever soundtrack is a representation of the importance of Africa and its culture in the world today.
The soundtrack album for the first installment of Black Panther was curated by Kendrick Lamar and it featured artists such as The Weeknd, SZA, Travis Scott, Khalid, Future, School Boy Q, Swalee, Jorja Smith, and James Blake, amongst others.
