‘Ratnik’ which is set to premiere in cinemas on November 6, 2020 according to Dimeji Ajibola, the film’s director.
The pioneering sci-fi Nollywood film “Kajola” (2009) has allowed film makers to approach this genre with realistic expectations.
There have been a few other sci-fi movies that has emerged following “Kajola”. For example, “Sector Zero” 2018 played by Instagram comedian, Brother Shaggi has proven that movie fans can expect something even bigger from Nollywood.
“Ratnik”, is the story of a World War III soldier returning home after a quarterly phase rotation programme, only to find out that her home front has now descended into some kind of chaos. Set in a remote Africa town during the early days of World War III, a special trooper Sarah Bello “Osas Ighodaro” returns home from the war-front to meet am unpleasant scenario. Her only sister has abused a certain chemical substance, and the race to save her life begins a new kind of war where the most advanced war machine known to man is unveiled.
“Ratnik” is hitting the stage at a time when the film landscape in Nigeria is flooded with comedies, epic and other movie genres.
According to report, the film was originally scheduled for release in November 2019 but was rescheduled to April 2020. However, the Covid-19 global outbreak forced the shutdown of cinemas.
