Nike honours Serena Williams by naming their headquarters after her. According to the multinational footwear and apparel brand, the LEED-platinum certified building, the new Beaverton, Oregon Nike World Headquarters (NWH) is responsible for creating some of the brand’s most innovative products. The SW building is the largest designed by the brand at 1 million square feet, an equivalent to 140 full-sized tennis courts. Serena has been a force inside and outside of Nike for two decades, she embodies Nike’s culture and represents their values. This building is just one way that Nike can continue to support her achievements for years to come.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner and four-time Olympic gold medalist, Serena Williams positioned herself as one of the greatest athletes of all time. The SW building is just one way that Nike is honoring one of its most iconic athletes, Serena Williams; the brand also released a special edition of her signature shoe, the Air Max 97, in 2018. The building serves as a tribute to Williams’ many achievements and groundbreaking career. In addition to her signature line of apparel and footwear, Williams has also partnered with Nike to design a number of the company’s most popular products, including the Mercurial boots used by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Serena Williams Building will house some of Nike’s most creative minds, including designers, engineers and material scientists. It is a fitting tribute to an athlete who has not only redefine what is possible on the court, but also inspired generations with her resilience, determination and style. In the latest issue of Vogue, Serena Williams announced that she would be retiring from tennis after the 2022 U.S. Open in August. She said that she was doing so to focus on her family and her venture capital company, Serena Ventures while thanking her fans for their support over the years.
