Since time immemorial, innovation has been the driving force behind wealth creation. Innovators have also made life considerably easier, as their ingenuity has solved a plethora of challenges we often encounter daily. Life would be a lot more difficult without innovative minds. And that is why we celebrate them every chance we get. Danny Manu the British-Ghanaian engineer and tech entrepreneur is credited with building the world’s first auto-translator earbuds called Click.

Click is said to be “the world’s first truly wireless earphones” with live voice translation supporting 40 languages. According to MyManu, the company that makes Clicks, its wireless Bluetooth headset works by pairing to a smartphone. The earbuds then automatically detect the language being spoken and provide a spoken translation within a sentence or two. The amazing feature of Click that makes it unique from similar inventions is that it does not require the use of the internet!

Across Europe, U.S and Asia, this amazing device has won the hearts of its customers. Just like all challenges innovators face, Manu, the African Giant said that getting the funding and financial support from banks and government for his invention was difficult. Yet he didn’t give up and explored other means to raise funds for his startup.

Even when the COVID-19 pandemic broke, the innovative business owner came up with such a brilliant idea to reduce the risk of going bankrupt. He saw a business opportunity in producing PPE and other safety equipment to help protect people in the Manchester area from the pandemic to sustain his business.

“If you truly believe in your product and ideas, you shouldn’t have too much trouble convincing other people to believe in them, too,” he told Keepthefaith in an interview.

Danny is an engineer who was born in the United Kingdom to Ghanaian parents. He studied at Oxford Brookes University and had previously worked at Quanta Networks Inc. and MEDYBIRD before establishing MyManu in 2014. He has a background in music and earth and was recently recognised by Google for his contributions to science, arts and culture.
