Mary J. Blige has been a legendary figure in the music industry since her debut album in 1992. With nine Grammys and countless hits, she has captured the hearts of music lovers worldwide. However, in a recent interview with EXTRA, Mary hinted at the possibility of retiring from music in the next five or six years.

When asked about her future plans, Mary revealed, “Right now, I’m definitely gonna do some more acting and I’m definitely gonna retire in, like, five or six years.” While music has been a significant part of her life, she is ready to explore new avenues and focus on her acting career.

However, she’s not done making music just yet. She clarified that she is still doing what she loves but not as often as before. With a newfound sense of freedom, Mary is taking her time and exploring different creative pursuits. She said, “I don’t have to now,” referring to the pressure to constantly produce new music.

Mary’s journey has been a remarkable one, and she has always been open about her personal struggles and triumphs. In her recent interview, she spoke about her love for herself and how she found her real love. Mary stated, “The glow is the love for Mary J. Blige. I find my real love. And my real love is me, and I found it.”

In addition to her music and acting careers, Mary is also giving back to her community. She recently donated $100K as part of the Pepsi x Mary J Blige Strength of a Woman Community Fund, which supports underserved women. On her visit back to her hometown of Yonkers, Mary reflected on her past and how it made her stronger. “It was hard,” she said. “But if you survive it, you have friends and you have had love.”
