Karen Finlayson is one of the finalists for The Black British Business Awards which took place on the 3rd of September 2018. She had worked hard to get there, and she was excited to attend the awards ceremony.
Karen Finlayson who is a partner at PwC LLP situated in Leeds, was enlisted alongside other finanlist for the BBB Awards. The awards ceremony was a glamorous affair, and Karen was thrilled to be announced as the winner of the award for Best Partner at a Large Firm. She dedicated her victory speech to everyone who had helped her achieve success, and vowed to continue making her mark in the business world.
The African Giant has always been an ambitious woman. When she was selected as the first Black female accomplice in the North of England in 2015, she knew that it was only the beginning. Karen who currently lead the Public Sector Health practice in the North, has done remarkably well and continued to achieve success in her field.
Also, during her interview with Women On Board. She stated that one of her careers influences was Rob Wilmot – a successful entrepreneur who was the Chair at the College during her tenure. in her abilities even when she doubted herself, which helped boost and empower her confidence.
She also added some advice for other women “Believe in yourself and be confident that you have what it takes to achieve your goals,” she said. “But also be resilient and build a strong support network. The people around you can have a big influence on whether you move forward or backwards.”
Jane’s own career is a testament to the importance of these things. She started out as a secretary, but through hard work and determination, she eventually became a partner at PwC LLP her own company. She credits her success to believing in herself and staying focused on her goals, as well as having a great support system of family and friends.
