After making history with her meteoric rise to success, Aminata Touré is sure to be remembered for generations to come. At 25 years old and without much experience in politics, Aminata was elected as the first-ever Black minister in Germany. This incredible feat proves that hard work and dedication pay off, no matter your background. Her “impossible” achievement set a precedent for greater representation throughout government and will likely continue inspiring future generations.
Aminata Touré was born in Germany to parents who had fled Mali following the 1991 coup d’état. Aminata began her pursuit of a college degree at the University of Kiel after completing her Abitur. During her studies, Aminata spent a semester abroad at the Complutense University of Madrid, immersing herself in Spanish culture. Upon earning her bachelor degree Aminata went on to work as a member of parliment for Luise Amtsberg from 2014-2017 before moving onto ventures beyond German politics.
