Dr Tinashe Manzungu, Director of the African Business Council and Board Director of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, was recently awarded an African Achievers Award for Excellence in Leadership and Global Corporate Enterprise in Africa.
The awards aim to recognise individuals, organisations and institutions making outstanding contributions to Africa’s development and progress across various sectors, including business, politics, arts and culture, sport, healthcare, education and more.
The Awards serve to celebrate excellence, innovation, leadership and positive impact. Speaking in London after receiving his award, Dr Manzungu stressed the importance of good leadership in Africa’s economic advancement. He also urged young people in Africa to remain focused and determined in order to become leaders who can transform the continent’s economy and socio-economic development.
In addition, at a public annual lecture, Dr Manzungu also highlighted the importance of infrastructure in unlocking the real estate market globally, and urged African countries to invest in infrastructure to start projects that establish the global real estate market. Finally, he also encouraged partnerships between the public and private sectors in the development of affordable housing initiatives, addressing the fact that Africa’s urban population is expected to double by 2050.
