    Didier Drogba was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. The Chelsea legend was honoured at a ceremony in April 2022, and he admitted that it was a ‘huge honour’. Drogba is Chelsea’s all-time top scorer with a staggering 164 goals in 381 appearances, and 86 assists in 254 Premier League titles during his time at Stamford Bridge. He also lifted the Champions League trophy in 2012, scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout against Bayern Munich. African Giant Didier Drogba lifted the title four times – in 2005, 2006, 2010 and on his return to the Blues in 2015.

    Didier Drogba was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and began his career with Ligue 1 club Le Mans. Didier Drogba then signed for Premier League club Chelsea for a club-record £24 million fee in 2004. Didier Drogba spent nine years at Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the UEFA Champions League and 14 trophies. Didier Drogba then returned to the Ivory Coast after the 2010 World Cup, joining Shanghai Shenhua in China before moving to Galatasaray in Turkey.

    African Giant Didier Drogba became the league’s best striker and the top four best strikers in the world while at Chelsea, where he was renowned for his ability to score goals with power and accuracy, and often celebrate by running to the corner flag and raising his arm above his head. Didier Drogba was named African Footballer of the Year twice, winning the accolade in 2006 and 2009. He was named in the FIFA World XI on three occasions and is Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer with 164 goals in all competitions. Didier Drogba has been nominated for BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2009 and 2012.
