Coming 2 America returned after 33 years since its premiere in 1988, directed by Craig Brewer, from a screenplay by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein, and Kenya Barris, based on characters created by Eddie Murphy.
The premiere Coming to America (1988) featured Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie Murphy) as an heir to the throne of Zamunda, a very rich African country. Akeem grew up to think he should be left to fend for himself and marry a woman of his choice; this thought set him off to faraway America along with his bosom friend Semmi (Arsenio Hall). This adventure took them to Queens, a town in New York where Akeem found his lost rib Lisa (Shari Headley).

AFRICA GIANT REVIEW
Unlike the original 1988 film, the sequel of the movie has an exodus of people from America to Africa, the title of the movie corresponds well to Coming To Africa rather than Coming To America. However, a sequel of a movie has its challenges of maintaining its original title, would the audience be in tune with a different title for a movie sequel.
One of the best scenes of the movie is its depiction of some of the interesting African culture and traditions in the Motherland, Africa; The use of colours during celebrations, colourful dancers, Africans are widely known to like to party while wearing enticing costumes or attire depending on the occasion. Even more outstanding, the movie features afrobeat icon, Nigerian artist Davido in a welcome party as Prince Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler) and his bride Mirembe (Nomzamo Mbatha) are fully welcomed back to Africa.
It is commendable how the movie also assimilates the prominent ritual practice of many African cultures, particularly in Kenya, where it is mandatory to carry out a task as dangerous as cutting the whiskers of a lion which guides the individual to make a transit into an age-grade. It also initiates the bravery of being a man; This was beautifully relayed as his son from America was made to produce the whiskers of a lion to become or be recognized as the Heir to the throne.
Despite some criticism, it is widely believed that the film is gaining a huge amount of audience and will stay alive for a long time. The 2021 film may not be as interesting as its original 1988 part, however, a sequel is always hardly as good as its first part.
