The company’s goal is to help expecting mothers make informed decisions about their health and the health of their children. Babymigo is committed to helping reduce the maternal death rate in Africa and improve the health of women and children in the continent.

According to a 2021 unicef Data, Maternal mortality is a huge problem in many parts of the world, especially sub-Saharan Africa. Every year, over 200,000 women die from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. That’s nearly one maternal death every minute. The maternal mortality rate in sub-Saharan Africa is 533 deaths per 100,000 live births – that’s over five times the maternal mortality rate in developed countries. These maternal deaths are preventable. The majority of maternal deaths are caused by three main factors: hemorrhage, sepsis, and eclampsia/pre-eclampsia. And yet, with the right medical care and interventions, these maternal deaths could be prevented.

In order to reduce the maternal mortality rate in sub-Saharan Africa, women of childbearing age and expectant mothers needs to be provided with better access to quality healthcare. Also, communities need to be educated about the importance of reproductive health and family planning. And investment in research and development of new maternal health technologies and interventions is required to significantly reduce maternal mortalities in sub-Saharan Africa.
