Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a striking performer of African descent with a physically imposing presence, cool exterior and impossible-to-ignore onscreen charisma. He is most famous for films such as “The Bourne Identity,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Thor: The Dark World” and “Suicide Squad.” Born in London and raised in Nigeria, Akinnuoye-Agbaje headed for the States after earning his Master’s degree in law. He was quickly scooped up for the 1992 hit music videos “Giving Him Something He Can Feel” by En Vogue and “Love No Limit” by Mary J. Blige. Just bubbling under the surface, Akinnuoye-Agbaje did more modeling work and began to win acting roles in hits like “Congo” (1995) and “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls” (1995).
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje got his start in acting with a part on the TV show “Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years.” Lonesome Dove was a great Western that told the story of two former Texas Rangers who build a ranch in Montana. Agbaje played the part of Hank, a former slave who joins the Rangers. He showed off his great acting skills, and Agbaje did a great job. His unique look, compelling accent and penetrating stare would separate him from fellow performers, and he landed significant roles in major motion pictures like ” Lost In Space” (1998), “The Mummy Returns” (2001), as well as HBO’s prison drama series, “Oz” (1997-2003). In addition to his work in front of the camera, Akinnuoye-Agbaje has also written, produced and directed several short films. Most recently, he starred in the film adaptation of DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad” (2016).
An accomplished and versatile actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a multi-talented artist with a promising future. Unfortunately, Adewale lost his father to cancer in 2001, and in 2010 his mother died from natural causes. Despite these tragedies, Agbaje has continued to work steadily in both film and television. His most recent role was on the hit show “Lost,” where he played the part of Mr. Eko, a character who was killed off early in the show’s run. Agbaje is a talented actor who has had a long and successful career.
