The Paris Olympics saw an unusual and awkward moment during the balance beam finals, as four gymnasts, including Simone Biles and Suni Lee, fell off the beam.
The silence of the Bercy Arena may have lead to the distractions, as the lack of music and a hushed crowd possibly played a part in throwing off their concentration.
Biles shared her discontent, saying, “We’ve asked several times if we can have some music or some background noise. I’m not really sure what happened there, but yeah, not our favourite. None of us liked it.” according to AP.
Even Lee joked about feeling the pressure so much that she worried whether the photographers could hear her breathe. Despite these setbacks, Biles managed to grab silver in the floor exercise, bringing her Olympic medal count to an impressive 11.
