    Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has revealed during an interview on The Big Friday Show that his activism is fuelled by compassion and that despite his fervent activism, he has no interest in venturing into politics. The rapper, who is also a lawyer, commented that he cannot afford to ignore the injustices he witnesses and therefore cannot avoid speaking out. Falz, who was an active participant in the historic #ENDSARS protest of 2020, has always been vocal about fighting against injustice in his music.

    During the interview, Falz made it clear that he is not positioning himself for any political position. He urged individuals to focus on what they want for themselves. In his words, “Not every activist you see is positioning themselves for political positions.” He believes that “everyone should know what they want for themselves and focus on that.”

    The rapper also imply that creatives are activists in their own right as they use their platforms to bring attention to social issues. He believes that people with huge followings, whether they are politicians, actors, or musicians, have a responsibility to educate their audience and use their platform for the betterment of society.
