But it was her first starring role in the teen drama tv series ‘IS’THUNZI’ from Mzansi Magic as ‘Winnie Bhengu’ that truly put her on the map.

    In 2018, Thuso achieved another major milestone as she was named in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 List at age 27. This recognition was well-deserved as her talent and hard work had finally paid off. But it was her international debut in ‘The Underground Railroad’ American fantasy historical drama series that truly cemented her as a globally renowned actor. Her performance in the series earned her a nomination for Best Leading Actress at the 2021 Emmy Awards.

    She has earned several nominations and awards including ‘South African Film and Television Awards’ for ‘ Best Actress – TV Drama’ television drama series ‘IS’THUNZI.’ She was also nominated for the ‘International Emmy Awards for ‘Best Performance by an Actress’ in the same tv series. In 2021, she was nominated for the ‘Television Critics Association Award’ all for her role ‘Cora Randall’ in the 2021 TV series ‘The Underground Railroad.’

    In 2022, Thuso continued to shine into her first movie where she played the role of ‘Nawi’ in the highly anticipated film ‘The Woman King.’ This role was another major milestone as it allowed her to showcase her acting prowess to an even wider audience. Despite all the success and recognition, the actress remains humble and grateful for the opportunities she has been given. She continues to inspire young aspiring actors in Africa and around the world with her work.
