    Nigerian Schoolgirls to win $960,000 Global Prize Award with App to help avoid Kidnapping. Chioma Abone and Emmanuel Ilok, students at Greensprings School in Lagos recently emerged as the finalists of the 2021 Young Tycoon Business Challenge after presenting a business idea, an Anti-Kidnapping App named AirGuard. The winning team will get $960,000 worth of prizes; $10,000 in cash and $950,000 in benefits from the likes of Harvard, Stanford and the Wharton School of Business.

    AirGuard is an Anti-Kidnapping App and a wearable technology that will curb the kidnapping of students in Nigeria. The Greensprings students, Chioma Abone and Emmanuel Ilok were worried about the constant abduction of students in Nigeria. They decided to design an app that will curb kidnapping by providing real-time updates on the safest routes to take based on data collected from user’s devices. Abone and Ilok are passionate about using technology to solve problems and are optimistic about an opportunity to do so on a global scale.

    AirGuard Wearable paired with the AirGuard App allows students to promptly alert family and friends if they are in danger. The finalists went through various rounds and defend their business ideas and business plans. Chioma Abone and Emmanuel Ilok idea first made it to the top 28 contestants and then made it to the final top eight of the Young Tycoon Business Competition. Airguard’s shows that Nigerian students are capable of coming up with innovative solutions to problems in their country.
