John Oseni may only be in his mid-teens, but his programming skills are already making waves across the globe. The young Nigerian software developer has been racking up an impressive resume of blockchain development work, including the creation of a video-conferencing application and a web-based crypto wallet, token swapping, exchanger.
But Oseni’s work doesn’t stop there. He is also the Co-founder & CTO of Versuspay, an online payment platform that is revolutionizing cashless convenience and frictionless buying. Additionally, he is a Shareholder at Softdroom and Co-Founder & CTO at 4Traderx Inc., a marketplace for African traders to access global payments infrastructure and international clients.
Despite being just a teenager, Oseni has already experienced international success with his programming career. He has worked remotely for companies in Italy such as Flywallet and Cryptonite, where he was made their blockchain team lead. Oseni was even booked for a trip to meet the company’s team physically, a testament to his growing reputation in the tech industry.

Oseni’s success is just one example of the burgeoning hub of programmers from Africa. The continent is home to many intelligent minds who are changing the face of programming and technology. John had gained interest in coding from Green Garage Organization that came to his high school as part of their computer science lessons. He had never coded before, but he was interested in learning more about computers after finding the class engaging and enjoyable and became interested in coding.
Following his persistent interest in coding, the Green Garage organization offered him a one-week training program to write codes. “After that week, I had really understood the concept of code writing and had scored a teaching opportunity with the company.” John eventually landed some offers with several companies. Oseni worked for other companies for free and started writing codes fully in 2021. Within a short while, he started to earn over $1 million from these companies he coded for.

In an interview with Punch News, John Oseni stated “I have made millions, more than N10m ($24,000). I once received N5m ($12,000) in bulk while other payments came monthly, some as wages.” while adding “I made my first N1m ($2,000) last year at 15. I was very happy; I felt like the richest man in the world but I had a rethink after spending half of the money on unnecessary things. But now, earning millions doesn’t move me because the money is for my company,”
John Oseni the Millionaire Programmer is one of the youngest programmers in Africa following Joshua Agboola, Basil Okpara Jr, and Betelhem Dessie. As the internet continues to break down barriers, Africa’s programmers are being given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities on a global stage.
