    Austin Chenge was in the race to become the next Governor of Michigan, USA 2022. Born in Benue State Nigeria, Austin and his family relocated to the United States and settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan – a city with a long history of immigration. Austin then went on to earn a law degree from University of Birmingham, England.

    If elected, Austin would be the first African-born governor in the United States. However, Austin withdrew from the race back in March. He had ran on a platform of economic opportunity, education reform, and environmental protection. He had gained the support of many Michigan residents who believe that he will be an effective leader for the state. Austin’s story is an inspiration to many immigrants who are Pursuing the American Dream.

    In 2018, Austin Chenge was enlisted in the United States Army as an E4 Specialist. The in March 2020, the Secretary of the Army awarded the “Army Achievement Medal” to Austin Chenge from Grand Rapids, MI for his exceptional performance while on Active duty. He has said that his experience as an immigrant gives him a unique perspective on the issues facing Michigan. He has also stated that he is committed to making Michigan a welcoming place for all people, regardless of their background or country of origin.

    Austin Chenge is an entrepreneur who has founded multiple startups, most notably Holla@Me/Holla.com and Wazobia. He raised over $200,000 in funding for Holla@Me which was a social network that was popular in England before being sold. Austin then expanded to San Jose in California. In 2016, he designed the ‘Wazobia tricycle’ aimed at improving the lives of peasant farmers all over Africa. The Wazobia tricycle has been praised for its design and Austin’s commitment to helping the peasant farmers.
