Africa Giant tells the untold stories of Africa’s most influential figures, from creating groundbreaking innovations to making impressive contributions to the arts and sciences. So that the youths have people to look up to.
Africans have contributed to society in countless ways – and not just through their art and music but have been responsible for some of the most important inventions and discoveries of all time.
Report has it that Africans were the ones who first discovered how to use tools, and developed agriculture and mathematics, metallurgy, architecture, astronomy and other fields. They even invented the wheel! But questions have been raised why their contributions have been largely ignored.
From the Elevator Doors to the Three-Light Traffic Signal to Home Security System, CCTV to the carbon filament Light bulb to America’s First Clock among others were invented by Africans and Blacks.
For example, consider Johannes Gutenberg, who invented the printing press. Or George Washington Carver, who developed hundreds of uses for peanuts and soybeans. Or Wangari Maathai, who founded the Green Belt Movement and won the Nobel Peace Prize.
