Dapo Akande is a Professor of Public International Law at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Exeter College; the fourth oldest college in Oxford. He is also a Co-Director of the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict. Prof has also served in various capacities before heading to Blavatnik School; such as Oxford Law Faculty where he was Professor of Public International Law.
African Giant Dapo has also served as Co-Director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Human Rights for Future Generations between 2012 and 2017. Other areas Prof. Dapo has served include the prestigious Yale Law School, the University of Miami Law School as well as the Catolica Global Law School, Lisbon.
He was also at the University of Melbourn Law School’s Asia Pacific Centre for Military Law, where he was the 2015 Sir Ninian Stephen Visiting Scholar, as well as the University of Nottingham and Durham. Professor Akande was also at the London School of Economics and Cambridge as a teacher between 1994 and 1998.
Professor Dapo Akande is a British-Nigerian academic and lawyer. The United Kingdom is pleased to nominate Professor Dapo Akande as the candidate for the International Law Commission for the period 2023-2027. The UK has always been a strong supporter of the International Law Commission and is proud of the contribution that British international lawyers have made to its work.
