UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis N’gannou highest-profile fight in 2017 made history, and not just because he knocked out veteran Alistair Overeem in the first round to come out with a win. This knockout is deemed one of the greatest of all time and marked his ascension as the hardest puncher in UFC history. However, before this knockout rose him to fame, Ngannou had already made his UFC debut back in 2015 against Luis Henrique at UFC on Fox 17, where he knocked out his opponent in the second round.

Francis N’gannou recently came back home with the belt after defeating Stipe Miocic with a second-round knockout in March 2021. He is the longest-reigning male champ in West African MMA history. Israel Adesanya is the second-longest male champion and serves as the UFC’s middleweight champion, which he won in October 2019.

The French-Cameroonian mixed martial artist currently competes in the Heavyweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and won his UFC gold in 2020, making him the third champ from West Africa. 2017 saw one of Ngannou’s most memorable battles – against veteran Alistair Overeem at UFC 218. With one of the greatest and most brutal knockouts of all time, Ngannou won in a swift and masterfuly executed first round knockout. Needless to say, it was a history-making fight!
