In the midst of the killings from the Endsars protest in Nigeria, first time Grammy nominee, Burna Boy seized the opportunity to express his sympathy for the victims of police brutality at the 15th BET Hip-Hop Awards 2020 on October 28, as he performed “Monsters You Made” with Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin.
His song also reflects how the effect of corruption and bad governance has created immorality among its citizens.
The BET Awards followed suit after nominations were announced on September 29, 2020. Megan Thee Stallion took home three awards, Hustler of the Year, Best Collaboration with Beyoncé and Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. Roddy Ricch took home two awards for Song of the Year and Hip-Hop Album of the Year.
